World Book Day

World  Book Day Thursday 4th March 2021

World Book Day is an important part of celebrating reading and the enjoyment and enrichment that pupils gain from reading for pleasure at Cefn Hengoed school. This year we will mark the event differently but with as much enthusiasm. We invite KS3 pupils to dress as their favourite book/ film characters when they participate in live lessons together with their teachers. In addition, pupils are encouraged to upload videos/ photos of themselves reading an extract from their favourite books to their Google classroom English lessons as a "Masked Reader" ie using a filter or real mask. Pupils' English teachers will give further details about the activities and competitions open to pupils, which includes a book cover design competition . Year 7 and 8 will participate in a World Book day assembly with Miss Brown on Wednesday 3rd March. In addition, pupils can access their digital £1 book tokens from their English Google classrooms which can be printed and exchanged for a selection of books at Asda and Sainsburys. https://www.worldbookday.com/books/

Further information and opportunities for participating at home can be found on the World Book day website.
