Hi Year 10,
Firstly - a quick introduction as some of you will not have met me yet at school - I'm Lyn Lloyd, the school's careers adviser from Careers Wales. Most of you have already completed the questionnaire during Welsh Bacc lessons and therefore will not need to complete it again. However, for those of you haven’t as yet I was hoping to complete some preparation work with you over the next month in order to prepare for working together in Year 11. Unfortunately, events and the school closure has impacted on this.
Year 11 will be a hugely important year for all of you with final GCSE exams and you will also have key decisions to make regarding your transition choices on completion of your compulsory education. These choices will include the option of applying to the 6th form at a school in the area, courses at Further Education colleges, applying for Apprenticeships and Traineeship opportunities or seeking employment.
In order to support you with these choices you will all have the opportunity to discuss your ideas during career guidance interviews with me at school. These interviews will start in September and the purpose of the meetings will be to offer you advice and any support that you may need to make positive choices and decisions in order to ensure you progress to meet your future career goals. Interviews will take place at school and parents are welcome to attend if they wish to do so.
In order to prepare for the meetings and to ensure that we are working effectively together to meet your needs I am asking that the whole Year group complete a short Career Questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire will be confidential and will only be used to inform our career meetings next year.
If you have not completed the questionnaire yet - thanks in advance for taking the time to complete it and it should take no longer than 15-20 minutes. Please read the questions carefully and take your time in completing your answers.
If you are unable to access the questionnaire or complete it at home - please do not worry - we can revisit this when school re-opens.
I enclose the link to complete the Career Check questionnaire and a link to information regarding your Post 16 option choices.

If you or parents have any questions regarding the questionnaire - please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks again,
Kind regards,
Lyn Lloyd (Careers Adviser)
